Personnel

Servgro's personnel, who it regards as its greatest asset, are carefully selected and trained on an ongoing basis to ensure a high level of competency at all times. The Company's policies and procedures ensure reliable and trustworthy personnel while service agreements guarantee service standards.

Recruitment

An essential part of Servgro's philosophy is to recruit and retain. The Company spends considerable time and effort in recruiting and retaining its personnel by ensuring it recruits suitable people who are content with the cultural fit. It also verifies each candidate's personality profile and potential. Recruitment is conducted internally and due regard is given to the important issue of employment equity. Each candidate is also thoroughly screened for their aptitude and experience within the industry.

Training and career development

Servgro has a number of accredited and unaccredited training programs available to its personnel to ensure that skills are developed and opportunities are given to develop and succeed. The Company offers its personnel a career path within the cleaning and maintenance industry. Individuals with potential are identified and offered formal coaching and mentorship to help develop their softer skills. Specific attention is paid to the development of previously disadvantage individuals, who constitute the majority of the candidates on the formal coaching programme.

Affirmative action

Servgro has a continuous employment equity plan which is revised every year to ensure targets are met. These targets include:

  • 90% previously disadvantaged individuals; and
  • 50% of top, senior and middle management positions to be held by previously disadvantage individuals.

The Company aims to achieve these targets by 2011.
